The Pool is done!

My mom and dad had a pool put in and it is finally complete! YEAH!!! We put Iris in the bucket just to see what would happen. She seemed to enjoy it...

Visiting with Nana & County Fair

Iris LOVED Nana's walker. She kept trying to push it around so we decided to let her sit on it and take a ride... We also took Iris to the county fair while we were there. She had her picture taken with Ms. America. If I can figure out how to get that scanned and saved I'll try to post it here later. here are some cute shots of Iris. She is not spitting below, we were feeding her ice cream...

1st Birthday party!

Iris turned 1 on July 25th. We went to Indiana to celebrate her birthday. It was Iris' first "big" road trip and she did very well. It was easier driving home without stopping (12hrs. 45 min.) than it was on the way up when we stopped in Sevierville, TN for the night. Iris had been sleeping in the car for about 5 hours so when we arrived at our hotel at midnight she was ready to play. She stayed up until about 3:00am! Her 12 month check-up was not until 8/14 but her statistics are as follows: Weight: 19.10 lbs. 21% Height: 31 1/2 in. 97% Head: 17 in. 5% Yes, there exists a Steele with a head circumference in only the 5th percentile. I was shocked as well and had the nurse double check but it is correct. I forgot to take a picture with a "12 month" sign but this picture was taken on her birthday at Brad's parents house. Her daddy was very excited and in the birthday spirit... This is Iris' aunt Barbara and her cousins Kaitlyn and Lauren...

She had a Winnie the Pooh themed party. Her other cousin Molly helped her blow out the candles. Iris was not in the best of moods during the party so she would not sit in her highchair for any "cake pictures"....

Pre-Birthday, Birthday Bash!

We were going to Indiana for Iris' 1st birthday so we decided to do a small party here the weekend before with family and a few friends. Iris wore her adorable little tutu outfit. The packaging is always more exciting than the actual present....

Plane Jane concert

Plane Jane was playing at Freshfields at Kiawah on Friday night. Brad and I have not seen them since they played at our wedding so we decided to go out there for a picnic and concert in the park. Iris munched on some noodles and fruit....

After dinner she crawled off the blanket and went exploring. A few moments later she returned with a mysterious piece of fabric...

We couldn't figure out where it came from until Brad spotted the back of our "neighbors" chair--OOPS!!! She's quite a destructive little thing these days!

Rump up

This was too cute to not take a picture! I went to check on Iris the other night before I went to bed. I found her rump up, ankles crossed and her arms folded under her. She looked terribly uncomfortable but she was sound asleep.

Fourth of July

We spent the weekend of the 4th in Tryon. On Saturday we took Iris on a boat tour of Lake Lure and then went out for lunch. It was a pretty fun weekend. Of course we did not see any fireworks since Iris goes to bed at 7:30. I imagine it will be several years before we see fireworks again.
