Happy Daddy Day!

Iris and Isabella presented daddy with their Father's day present after church--a camping recliner chair!!! I think the girls loved it as much as he did....

I tried to get a picture of Brad with the girls. Isabella was in a major need of a nap and would not cooperate.  This is the best I could do....
Happy Daddy's Day!!!

Edisto Trip

We went to Edisto for the weekend to visit with our friends, the Shelton's and the VanGinhoven's. Here is J.J. and Jeanette's daughter Helen.  She is 6 months old and this is her first visit to the US.  She is super cute!

Jeanette brought all the kids these cute Dutch slippers.  We tried to get a group photo but it was difficult...

Hanging out at the beach...
Our evening walk with the kids...
Iris loved chasing the seagulls.  Poor thing never caught one...

We  tried very hard to get a group photo of the kids on the beach.  Helen was the only one that cooperated.  Hopefully next year we can get a better one...

Peaches & Llama Eggs?

This morning I was getting the kids in the car to go to Target when mom called and asked if we wanted to go pick peaches. YES, of course we do! We went to Canady's which is about 25 minutes past Summerville. A long drive but well worth it. Iris picked this entire basket before I even got Isabella out of the car and in the wagon. She just went crazy and picked every peach she could reach. Isabella supervised and taste tested from the comforts of her wagon...
Mom trying to convince Iris we have enough peaches and should go pick something else.... After two baskets of peaches we picked some blackberries. Then we went across the farm to pick blueberries...
Iris was not as excited about the blueberries but the ones she did pick she put into her goldfish bag. I told the lady weighing the blueberries that her goldfish bag was full of blueberries. She told me not to worry about it because the 2 baskets of peaches she had just weighed were full of goldfish. We were even.
On the way home we stopped at Bee City. It's a random little place in the middle of nowhere with a restaurant and a petting zoo. Iris saw this fake horse and begged to get on it. Then she freaked out, made this face, and immediately wanted down.
Feeding the goats...
Isaboo playing on their wooden train...
I literally cannot look at the below picture without crying from laughing so hard. This is how the scene unfolded when we approached the llamas. This is not verbatim but pretty darn close:
Mom: Look, llama eggs.
Me: Uh, Mom, I don't think llamas lay eggs.
Mom: Well, then who do you think put those there?
Me: Uh, I don't know. How about those 2 geese standing behind the llama?
Mom: (Hysterical laughter) Yeah, you're probably right.
SERIOUSLY one of the funniest moments ever!

Camp Poop

I didn't post this picture but had to include it in the printed version of this book. Sunday morning we were packing up to leave. Iris' potty was on the ground with the last of the things to be put in the truck. As we were loading up Iris just sat down on her potty and did a huge poop, right there out in the open. Brad was motified. I thought it was hilarious. She does not care where her potty is--- if she has to go, she has to go!

Fun with Cousins

I kept Avery and the girls one afternoon last week while my parents were out of town. Avery and Iris were playing dress up. I heard them talking about the dresses not fitting Isabella and then I turned around to find her in this....
looks like they were able to make something work. Just a random picture of the girls with their cousins. This has been a common scene this summer....

Camping -- Tybee Island

Last weekend we went on our first Family Camping trip--well, not the first, but the first since we had Isabella. We pulled our little camper out of storage, spruced her up, and off we went to Tybee Island, Georgia. Here's our camp...
The campground was just a "short walk to the beach." A short walk, yes, but not that short pulling 2 kids in a wagon while carrying chairs, snacks, towels etc. After our first walk we decided to drive the few blocks. Here's our first afternoon at the beach...
Isabella loved dropping sand into the bucket....

and just exploring in general... So sweet... After the beach it was back to our camper for some burgers on the grill and smores. That was the plan. Unfortunately, someone forgot the grill! I won't say who but that person did a nice job frying our burgers on the stove so there were no complaints. After dinner we skipped smores and just went with some ice cream and graham crackers. The girls didn't notice the difference or seem to care. Saturday morning it was back to the beach. Isabella had some trouble walking on the lumpy sand. I also think she was feeling self conscious about that little belly... My "in action" shot of her falling down.... then back up... and off to the beach to play with daddy and Iris... ... or just sit down here. I usually have more pictures of Iris but since she was keeping Brad busy in the waves I was finally able to get lots of pictures of Isabella. After a day at the beach we didn't feel like cooking so we went out to dinner. Paula Dean's brother owns a seafood restaurant called Uncle Bubba's that was just down the road. It was pretty good. Daddy with his girls... After that it was time for bed. If you are wondering how we all fit into this little camper I'll show you:
My spot was on the left of Iris and Isabella actually slept in a playpen that we were able to squeeze into the camper.
Then the bed turns into a table during the day (excuse Iris, she is licking something off of her shirt)...
and daddy has plenty of room to cook breakfast in the kitchen...
It was a fun trip. LOTS of work, but still fun. I'm already planning our next trip. I think it will be in the fall though and somewhere in the mountains. I can be a good trooper but I 'm not camping when it's a 100 degrees outside.

Aquarium Day

Wednesday we met the Buxton Boys at the Aquarium for Jump Bunch. It's a little exercise program for toddlers in their new Toddler Cove play area. Here they are in action. Hugh is in the white shirt, not sure who the other kid belongs to...
stretchy, stretchy...
Julian didn't participate much in the structured exercise but he got plenty climbing this castle... Isabella was a little over whelmed by the whole exercise thing and preferred the safety of this tree...
Thanks guys for a fun playdate!
