Birthday Road Trip

Saturday we took a road trip up to Lockhart, SC for John Howard's 1st birthday. Being friends with Misti has given me several opportunities to visit this small speck of a town over the years. John Howard's birthday was another "not to be missed" Lockhart event.
The Birthday Boy...
...getting a little help with the candles.
Happy 1st Birthday John Howard!!
They had a super fun blow up slide for the party. Iris went down this slide no less than 50 times--that is NOT an exaggeration. First she tried it with daddy...
...then Mommy and Isabella. After that she was brave enough to go alone (thank goodness) and spent the rest of the afternoon climbing up and sliding down over and over and over again.
When it was time to go she had a very sad and slow walk back to the truck...
thank goodness balloons always make "goodbye's" easier.
She wasn't sad for long. She was asleep before we were out of town ( which takes all of 45 seconds).
Isabella was out like a light as well.
About 3 hours later we arrived in Jedburg (which seriously may be smalled than Lockhart) to visit with my aunt and uncle for a few minutes. Iris saw these "reindeer" in their yard and just had to hop on for a ride.
Isabella did not share the same enthusiasm...
Iris loved the deer so much that she refused to leave them.
Here she is with one of them doing her "standoff" --arms crossed, feet firmly planted and lips in full pout position.
Mommy won of course (because I ran back and physically removed her) and then finally we made it home!
